⚙️ The Safelist Traffic Engine
Build a traffic machine, not just a mailer list.
Here’s how I put the different pieces together to create a safelist system
that can generate, distribute and leverage advertising credits.
If you’ve ever joined a bunch of safelist mailers, collected a few credits,
sent some ads and then wondered what the hell you were supposed to do next,
you’re not alone.
That’s not really the way I approach safelist advertising.
I look at the different programs as components of a larger system.
Some help me build credits. Some help me decide where those credits should go.
Some save me enormous amounts of time. Others help automate or expand the
distribution process.
Put all of those pieces together and you have what I call
The Safelist Traffic Engine.
🎯 Decide What to Advertise
🛠️ Get the Right Tools
🔎 Do Your Recon
💰 Build Your Credits
📣 Expand Distribution
⚙️ Automate the System
🎯 First Things First: What Are You Advertising?
OK, so you’re interested in finding the most efficient way to advertise
on safelist mailers. That’s great—but before we decide
WHERE we’re going to advertise, we need to decide
WHAT we’re going to advertise.
I want to advertise Program X so I can make a million dollars overnight
like I was promised by the program owners!”
Well… that’s a lot to unpack, and probably another conversation.
But no matter what program you’re promoting, I recommend that the thing
you actually advertise from your safelist traffic should be some kind
of squeeze page.
You may also hear it called an opt-in page. Whatever you call it,
the basic idea is the same: get the visitor to voluntarily give you
their email address.
That’s because the real value of that click isn’t necessarily the person
buying something immediately. It’s getting that person onto your email list,
where you can continue communicating with them.
You can then use your autoresponder to provide useful information,
recommendations, resources and opportunities while occasionally promoting
products and programs that make sense for your audience.
In other words, we’re not trying to make one click do all the work.
We’re trying to turn that click into a lead we can continue communicating with.
If you’d like to learn more about how I approach email marketing and
list building, check out my
List Building Strategy.
So now we’ve decided that our safelist traffic is going to a squeeze page.
That’s an important decision, because it means we aren’t simply throwing
affiliate links into safelist emails and hoping somebody buys something.
We’re building a traffic funnel.
I use LeadsLeap for my squeeze pages, autoresponder,
follow-up email campaigns and tracking links. Pretty much any funnel I
promote or talk about can use LeadsLeap for this purpose.
Get that foundation in place before you start joining dozens of mailers.
Otherwise you’ll have a pile of credits and nowhere particularly useful
to send them.
First decide what you’re sending people to. Then we can start
deciding where to send them.
⚡ Lightning Autofill — Your Time-Saving Secret Weapon
Before we get too deep into safelist mailers, we need to make sure
we have the right tools to actually handle all of these
safelists.
LeadsLeap was the first one of those tools. But I need to introduce you
to one more super-handy tool before we get into the meat and potatoes
of this mailer strategy.
That’s Lightning Autofill.
Once you start joining a lot of advertising programs, you’ll discover
something very quickly: a ridiculous amount of your time can disappear
into filling out forms.
Usernames. Passwords. Email addresses. Names. Payment information.
Profile information. Referral information. The same basic information
over and over and over again.
Lightning Autofill is a simple but extremely useful way to cut down
on that repetitive work.
And that’s important because this strategy isn’t built around joining
three safelists and calling it a day. We’re talking about potentially
working with a large number of programs.
The more programs we work with, the more valuable a good time-saving
tool becomes.
I consider Lightning Autofill a bit of a life saver
and a major time cutter for the repetitive parts of this strategy.
You’ll see why as we continue building the system.
Now that we’ve got the tools we need to build and manage the system,
it’s time to do our recon.
managing those programs practical.
🔎 List Hoopla — Do Your Recon Before You Spend Your Credits
Now that we’ve decided what we’re going to advertise and have our
LeadsLeap setup in place, we’re ready to start thinking about building
some safelist credits.
And over the next couple of steps, I’m going to show you how to
amass a frightening amount of mailer credits in a surprisingly
small amount of time.
But before we start building those credits, we need to do a little
reconnaissance.
We need to decide where those credits are best utilized, because not
all safelist mailers produce the same results.
Wouldn’t it be useful if you could see the experiences of thousands
of individual users, all brought together in one place, with those
results continually being updated?
That’s where List Hoopla comes into the picture.
List Hoopla gives us a way to research and compare safelist mailers
using large amounts of independent user feedback and rankings rather
than relying entirely on what the program owners tell us.
The rankings are continually updated, which gives us a much better idea
of which programs are actually getting positive results from users.
collecting credits.
We want to know where those credits are most likely to do us some good.
Think of List Hoopla as our reconnaissance department.
Before we send the traffic, we want to know where we should send it.
There’s also an additional benefit here. Participation can create
credit-producing leverage through referrals, potentially
helping produce more credits without every credit coming directly from
our own activity.
But that’s not the primary reason I’ve included List Hoopla here.
The primary reason is research.
Once we’ve done that reconnaissance, we’re ready to start building
the ammunition for the Safelist Traffic Engine.
💰 VMPayday — Time to Start Stockpiling Our Ammunition
We’ve done our reconnaissance. We know what we’re going to advertise,
we’ve got our tools in place, and List Hoopla has given us a much better
idea of where we want to put our traffic.
Now it’s time to start stockpiling our ammunition.
Remember, the whole point of this strategy is to be able to generate
a substantial amount of safelist traffic without having to constantly
pull out our wallet every time we want to advertise.
That’s where VMPayday comes into the picture.
VMPayday gives us a way to build up a substantial supply of advertising
credits, which we can then use throughout the rest of our safelist strategy.
Rather than treating it as just another safelist mailer on the list,
we’re using it as one of the tools that helps us build the ammunition
that feeds the entire system.
And this is where I want to keep things relatively simple on this page.
There are some specific things I do with VMPayday to build credits
efficiently, and I’ve covered those details in my dedicated VMPayday
review and strategy article.
That’s the article you want to read if you want to see exactly how I
use VMPayday.
VMPayday helps us build the credits we’re going to send there.
That’s a much more powerful combination than simply joining a bunch
of safelists and hoping for the best.
📈 SendCircle — Make Those Credits Work Harder
We’ve just started stockpiling our ammunition with VMPayday.
Now let’s see if we can make that ammunition work a little harder.
SendCircle fits into the strategy for a slightly
different reason than VMPayday.
We’re no longer just looking for another place to collect or spend
credits. We’re looking for ways to leverage the credits
we’ve already worked to build.
SendCircle uses a cooperative system with different membership levels
and priority advantages, giving us another way to get more value
from our advertising activity.
And that’s really the important part for this strategy.
Remember, we’re trying to build a system here—not
a giant collection of safelist memberships that we have to log into
every five minutes.
We’ve already started building our credit war chest with VMPayday.
Now we’re looking for ways to put that growing supply of credits
to work more efficiently.
I’ve covered the details of how I approach SendCircle, including
how I look at the membership levels and credit system, in my
dedicated SendCircle review and strategy article.
VMPayday helps us stockpile the ammunition.
SendCircle gives us another way to leverage that ammunition.
⏱️ Referral Frenzy — Stop Spending Your Life Clicking Login Ads
At this point, we’ve got our tools in place, we’ve done our recon,
and we’ve started stockpiling the ammunition we’re going to use.
Now we have to address a problem that can bring this entire strategy
to a screeching halt:
Time.
Because if you’ve ever tried to manually advertise on a large number
of safelist mailers, you already know what I’m talking about.
Imagine having 80+ mailers on your list.
Now imagine logging into every single one of them.
Click the login ad.
Wait.
Click through whatever page comes next.
Find the mail section.
Find the message area.
Enter your message.
Submit it.
Then do it all over again.
to make you question every decision that led you to becoming
an Internet marketer in the first place.
And we’re not talking about doing this once. We’re talking about doing
it over and over again as we work our way through a growing list of mailers.
Even if you only spend 3–5 minutes per mailer, doing that manually
across 80+ programs can turn a simple mailing task into
several hours of mind-numbing work.
That’s where Referral Frenzy comes in.
Instead of spending your afternoon playing
“Click The Damn Login Ad Again,”
Referral Frenzy allows you to send your message to every participating
mailer you’re eligible to mail through from one place.
And the really crazy part?
The actual mailing process can take less than 90 seconds.
That’s the difference between a strategy you can realistically maintain
and one that eventually makes you want to throw your keyboard out the window.
There’s another benefit for upgraded Referral Frenzy members that I
really like, too.
Depending on the participating mailer, upgraded members can claim
free credits, banner impressions and text-ad advertising that are
added to their accounts.
And these aren’t necessarily one-time bonuses. Many of the participating
programs make these additional advertising credits available each month,
as long as you continue to claim them.
So Referral Frenzy isn’t just about saving time. It’s also another way
to squeeze additional advertising value out of the mailers you’re
already participating in.
But for me, the biggest advantage is still the time savings.
If we’re going to build a Safelist Traffic Engine involving dozens—
or eventually 80+—mailers, I don’t want the engine to require me to sit
at the computer for several hours every time I want to send a mailing.
I want to push the button and get back to building the rest of the system.
That’s exactly why Referral Frenzy belongs here.
📣 Master Safelist Blaster — Increase the Reach
Now we get into Master Safelist Blaster.
We’ve already done the work of deciding what we’re advertising,
researching where we want to send our traffic, building our credits,
and finding ways to save ourselves a ridiculous amount of time.
Now we want to increase the number of places that advertising can reach.
That’s the role Master Safelist Blaster plays in the system.
Think of it as taking the same marketing message and broadcasting it
across multiple audiences rather than manually recreating that process
over and over again.
The point isn’t simply to add another tool because we can.
The point is to increase our reach and leverage
without creating another mountain of work.
I’ve covered the actual programs, setup and strategy behind Master
Safelist Blaster in my dedicated review and strategy article.
For the Safelist Traffic Engine, just think of it this way:
we’ve built the campaign—now we’re expanding the distribution.
⚙️ Traffic Zipper — Put the Automation on Top
We’ve built the network. We’ve accumulated the ammunition.
We’ve found ways to distribute our advertising without manually
visiting every individual program.
Now comes the really interesting part:
automation.
Traffic Zipper is the piece I think of as the
automatic transmission of this system.
Instead of manually working through supported programs one at a time,
Traffic Zipper provides an automation layer that can handle the mailing
process across the programs it supports.
That’s a major distinction.
We’re not trying to eliminate the network.
We’re trying to make the network easier to operate.
That’s why I deliberately put Traffic Zipper here rather than throwing
it near the beginning of the strategy.
Automation makes a lot more sense once you understand what we’re
actually automating.
If you want to see exactly how Traffic Zipper fits into the programs
I’m using, check out my dedicated Traffic Zipper review and strategy article.
🏁 M3 Mailer — The Bigger Picture
And finally, we get to M3 Mailer.
I deliberately saved this one for near the end because I think it makes
a lot more sense once you understand everything we’ve just covered.
If you encounter M3 without understanding the rest of the strategy,
it can look like just another mailer or another program you need to join.
That’s not really how I look at it.
By this point we’ve already discussed credit creation, research,
time savings, distribution and automation.
M3 belongs here because it can bring several of those concepts together
into a larger package, including access to the Traffic Zipper
automation layer.
And that’s why I wanted you to understand Traffic Zipper before getting
to M3.
Once you understand what the automation layer actually does, you can
better understand why a program that includes that layer may be
interesting to someone building this type of system.
I’m not going to turn this page into a complete M3 tutorial either.
I’ve got a dedicated M3 Mailer review and strategy article where I
break down the program and explain how I look at it.
For now, just think of M3 as the bigger-picture package
that makes more sense after you’ve already seen the individual pieces
of the Safelist Traffic Engine.
like one larger system.
⚙️ Put It All Together
The important thing to understand is that I don’t look at these programs
as nine unrelated things I happen to belong to.
Each one has a specific job in the overall Safelist Traffic Engine.
Builds the funnel.
Saves time.
Provides reconnaissance.
Builds the ammunition.
Adds leverage.
Saves massive amounts of time.
Expands distribution.
Adds automation.
Brings pieces together.
🚀 Ready to Build Your Own Safelist Traffic Engine?
You don’t have to implement everything at once.
Start with the pieces that make the most sense for you, learn how they
work, and build from there.
The individual strategy articles below each go deeper into exactly
how I use the programs and why I’ve included them in this system.
