LeadsLeap Review: Free List Building, SendSteed, Traffic & More

If you’re looking for an online marketing platform that combines traffic generation, email list building, landing pages, tracking, advertising, and multiple ways to earn, LeadsLeap is one of the more comprehensive systems I’ve come across.

At first glance, LeadsLeap can look like another traffic platform where members view advertisements and generate credits. But that really doesn’t describe everything LeadsLeap does.

The platform has developed into a collection of marketing tools that can be used together to build an actual lead-generation system.

You can build a landing page, connect it to an autoresponder, collect subscribers, send follow-up emails, track your traffic, advertise your pages, participate in a Traffic Co-Op, display PPC advertisements, earn credits, and earn affiliate commissions.

And perhaps most importantly for someone who is trying to build an email list, you can do much of that without paying for a collection of separate marketing services.

LeadsLeap launched in 2008, originally as a lead-generation network. Its founder is Kenneth Koh, and the platform has continued adding tools over the years, including its Page Builder, SendSteed list manager, tracking tools, popup creator, and Traffic Co-Op.

What Is LeadsLeap?

LeadsLeap is an online marketing platform built around traffic generation and lead generation.

The current system combines several different functions, including:

  • Traffic generation
  • Email list building
  • Autoresponder functionality
  • Landing-page creation
  • Popup and form creation
  • Link tracking
  • Advertising
  • Traffic Co-Op
  • PPC advertising
  • Affiliate commissions
  • Credit earning and cash conversion
  • Referral/downline tools

The important thing is that these aren’t necessarily separate products that have to be pieced together.

They are designed to work together inside the LeadsLeap ecosystem.

That makes LeadsLeap particularly interesting for people who are building an email list and need somewhere to send the traffic they generate.

The Email List Building Side of LeadsLeap

This is the part of LeadsLeap that I think deserves the most attention.

LeadsLeap provides its own built-in list manager called SendSteed.

And SendSteed isn’t simply a way to store email addresses.

It provides the core features you’d expect from an autoresponder, including double opt-in, welcome emails, broadcasts, open-rate tracking, link tracking, and automated follow-up email series for Pro members.

The really interesting part is that Free Members can have up to 10 lists with unlimited subscribers in each list.

Free members can collect names and email addresses, automatically send the welcome/verification process, and send up to 10 broadcasts during a rolling 30-day period. Automated email series are available with Pro.

That makes SendSteed a potentially valuable starting point for someone who wants to build a list without immediately paying for an outside autoresponder.

SendSteed Doesn’t Put Ads in Your Emails

Another important point is that LeadsLeap says your SendSteed list is your personal list.

The company states that subscriber lists aren’t shared with LeadsLeap and that emails aren’t infused with advertisements.

LeadsLeap also says the list itself isn’t lost if you stop paying because SendSteed is available as a free service.

That is a significant difference from some traditional email marketing services where losing the monthly subscription can eventually mean losing access to the service.

Building Squeeze Pages With LeadsLeap

The other half of the list-building equation is the landing page.

You need somewhere to send your traffic.

LeadsLeap’s Page Builder lets members create hosted landing pages without needing their own web hosting.

The Page Builder can connect directly to SendSteed, allowing the opt-in form on your page to feed subscribers into your list. It can also work with third-party list managers.

For somebody just getting started with list building, that eliminates another potential obstacle.

You don’t necessarily need:

  • Separate web hosting
  • A separate landing-page builder
  • A separate autoresponder
  • Separate form software

LeadsLeap can provide those pieces inside one system.

The Share Code Feature Is a Big Deal

This is one of my favorite features of LeadsLeap.

The Share Code system makes it incredibly easy to copy a landing-page design—or even an entire funnel—into another LeadsLeap account.

Let’s say you create a squeeze page that converts really well.

Instead of telling somebody:

“Go build this page yourself.”

You can give them a Share Code.

They can paste that code into their LeadsLeap account and import the page design.

LeadsLeap’s system can also use Share Code Replacers, which allow information such as a SendSteed List ID, affiliate URL, or other data to be replaced with the recipient’s own information.

That means a page can essentially be created once and then duplicated by other members.

And this is where the system gets particularly interesting for team building.

Copy-and-Paste Squeeze Pages

Imagine you’ve created a squeeze page specifically for an offer.

You can share the design.

Someone else receives the Share Code.

They paste it into their LeadsLeap account.

The page is created for them.

They can then connect it to their own SendSteed list and replace the links or other information with their own.

LeadsLeap describes the Share Code system as being able to duplicate an entire funnel, including the associated pages, Ad Bars, and popup/forms. Internal links are updated for the newly created pages.

That can make funnel duplication remarkably easy.

And for anyone building a team, this is a very useful feature.

Why This Matters for List Building

The combination of Page Builder + SendSteed + Share Codes creates something much more useful than simply having a free landing-page tool.

You can build the entire lead-capture process.

For example:

Traffic Source → LeadsLeap Squeeze Page → SendSteed → Follow-Up Emails → Offer

Now add the Share Code system.

You can potentially give the same basic funnel to other marketers, allowing them to duplicate the page and connect it to their own list.

That makes LeadsLeap particularly interesting for people who aren’t just trying to get visitors but are trying to turn those visitors into owned leads.

SendSteed Email Automation

SendSteed supports automated email series for Pro members.

That means you can build a sequence of follow-up emails that goes out automatically after somebody joins your list.

For example:

Day 0: Welcome email
Day 1: Introduction
Day 2: Helpful resource
Day 3: Recommended traffic source
Day 4: Special offer
Day 5: Follow-up

The exact strategy is up to you.

The important point is that once the sequence is configured, the follow-up process doesn’t require you to manually send every message.

That is one of the biggest differences between simply collecting email addresses and actually building an email marketing system.

Free vs. Pro LeadsLeap

LeadsLeap offers a lifetime-free membership.

The current free membership includes access to tools such as SendSteed, Page Builder, popup creation, and tracking, although the free versions have various usage limits. The current public site lists up to 10 SendSteed lists with unlimited subscribers, up to 10 Page Builder designs, up to 10 popups, and 199 trackers with 10 rotators.

The current Pro Membership is $27 per month.

LeadsLeap states that Pro has no additional upsells and unlocks features including unlimited lists, pages and popups, automated email series, and Pro advertising. Pro ads can run continuously without requiring credits.

For somebody primarily interested in experimenting with the system, starting free makes sense.

For someone who intends to use LeadsLeap as a serious marketing platform, Pro unlocks considerably more of the system.

LeadsLeap Advertising

LeadsLeap isn’t only a list-building platform.

It also provides its own advertising network.

Members can create advertising campaigns and get their websites and offers in front of other LeadsLeap members.

The system uses both Credit Ads and Pro Ads.

Credit Ads can be funded using credits earned through activity, while Pro members can use Pro Ads that are displayed continuously without requiring advertising credits.

This creates an interesting connection between the traffic and list-building sides of the platform.

You don’t have to generate traffic somewhere else and then bring it into LeadsLeap.

You can generate traffic inside the system and send that traffic to a landing page that feeds directly into SendSteed.

LeadsLeap Traffic Co-Op

One of the more interesting additions to LeadsLeap is the Traffic Co-Op.

The basic concept is simple.

You receive a unique Co-Op link and promote it through other traffic sources such as traffic exchanges, safelists, and other traffic networks.

In return, the traffic you generate through your Co-Op link can help generate exposure for your advertising inside the LeadsLeap network.

LeadsLeap also pays for qualifying traffic sent to the Co-Op.

The system therefore creates a bridge between LeadsLeap and the other traffic sources you’re already using.

Instead of simply sending traffic to a page and getting nothing back except a visitor, the Co-Op can turn qualifying traffic into advertising credits and earnings while also helping generate exposure for your own ads.

LeadsLeap says qualifying Co-Op visitors must surf the Co-Op link for at least five seconds.

PPC Advertising

LeadsLeap also has a PPC earning system.

Members can display LeadsLeap Ad Widgets on websites, blogs, landing pages, trackers, and Co-Op links.

When visitors click qualifying advertisements, the publisher can earn PPC income.

LeadsLeap currently says its Ad Widgets appear across thousands of websites and blogs as well as traffic trackers.

This creates another interesting possibility.

A marketer can use LeadsLeap not only to buy or generate traffic, but also to monetize some of the traffic they already have.

Multiple Ways to Earn

This is one of the reasons LeadsLeap is different from a basic traffic exchange.

The platform currently describes multiple ways members can make money.

These include:

Affiliate Commissions

You can promote LeadsLeap itself.

LeadsLeap’s current tutorial states that Free Members can earn 25% recurring commissions on direct referral Pro memberships, while Pro Members can earn 50% recurring commissions.

The commission is recurring, meaning that if your referral remains a Pro member, the commission can continue rather than being limited to the initial transaction.

Traffic Co-Op Income

Members can earn from qualifying traffic sent through their Co-Op link.

LeadsLeap’s Traffic Co-Op information describes the earnings as being based on the quality, uniqueness, location, and other characteristics of the traffic.

PPC Income

Members can earn when visitors click advertisements displayed through LeadsLeap’s Ad Widget system.

Daily Active Bonus

Members can also earn a Daily Active Bonus by completing the required advertising activity.

The current tutorial describes qualifying activity as viewing at least 10 ads per day.

Credit Encashment

LeadsLeap credits aren’t necessarily locked into advertising forever.

The platform also allows eligible credits to be converted into cash through Credit Encashment.

This gives credits another potential use.

You can either use them to advertise your own Credit Ads or, when eligible, convert them into cash.

Tracking and Testing

Another important part of LeadsLeap is its tracking system.

The platform provides link tracking and more advanced traffic statistics, including the ability to distinguish between different types of traffic and analyze visitor behavior.

The Page Builder also includes advanced tracking and page rotation capabilities, allowing marketers to test different page designs.

This matters because list building isn’t just about getting people to your squeeze page.

You need to know what happens after they arrive.

If one page converts significantly better than another, you want to know that.

If one traffic source produces more subscribers, you want to know that too.

Testing and tracking turn traffic into usable information.

LeadsLeap for Email List Building

If I were explaining LeadsLeap to someone specifically interested in building an email list, I’d focus on the fact that the platform can provide almost the entire front end of the process.

You can:

  1. Create a landing page.
  2. Connect it to SendSteed.
  3. Collect subscribers.
  4. Send a welcome message.
  5. Send broadcasts.
  6. Build automated follow-up sequences with Pro.
  7. Track your traffic.
  8. Promote the landing page through LeadsLeap advertising.
  9. Bring traffic through the Traffic Co-Op.
  10. Use other traffic sources to send visitors into the funnel.

That is a complete lead-generation system.

And because the free version allows unlimited subscribers, someone can start building a list before paying for a conventional autoresponder subscription.

How We Use LeadsLeap

LeadsLeap fits particularly well into a strategy where the goal is to turn traffic into an email subscriber instead of letting the visitor disappear after one click.

Rather than sending every traffic-exchange visitor directly to an affiliate offer, I would generally send that traffic to a squeeze page.

The funnel looks something like:

Traffic Exchange / Safelist / Advertising → LeadsLeap Squeeze Page → SendSteed → Follow-Up → Offers

That gives the traffic another chance to produce value.

The visitor might not buy something today.

But if they opt into the list, you now have an opportunity to communicate with them again.

The Share Code feature makes the Page Builder even more useful because a squeeze page can be duplicated and customized without rebuilding the entire design from scratch.

This is particularly useful when a page has already been tested and is converting well.

Instead of giving someone instructions for recreating it, you can simply give them the Share Code.

They import the page, connect their own SendSteed list, replace the necessary links, and they’re ready to go.

That is a very powerful concept for both individual marketers and team builders.

Is LeadsLeap Worth the $27 Pro Membership?

The answer depends on what you intend to use it for.

If you’re only looking for a simple traffic exchange, there are cheaper and simpler options.

But that’s really missing the point of LeadsLeap.

The Pro membership isn’t simply buying traffic.

You’re getting access to an entire collection of marketing tools, including expanded list management, unlimited pages and popups, automated email series, tracking, advertising, and other advanced functionality. LeadsLeap currently lists the Pro membership at $27 per month with no additional upsells.

If you would otherwise be paying separate monthly subscriptions for an autoresponder, landing-page builder, popup creator, tracking system, and traffic service, the economics become considerably more interesting.

And you can start free.

That makes the barrier to testing the platform relatively low.

Final Verdict

LeadsLeap is much more than a traffic source.

Its real strength is the way the different pieces fit together.

You can start with free traffic and advertising, create a landing page, connect that page to SendSteed, build an email list, track the results, and then continue communicating with those subscribers through broadcasts and automated follow-up.

The Share Code system adds another layer that I think is particularly valuable. A landing page or complete funnel doesn’t necessarily have to be rebuilt every time someone wants to use it. You can share the design, let another member import it, and have them connect their own list and links.

Then there is the earning side.

Affiliate commissions, PPC earnings, Traffic Co-Op income, Daily Active Bonuses, and credit encashment give members multiple ways to extract value from the system.

That doesn’t mean everyone will make money with LeadsLeap. Like any marketing platform, the results ultimately depend on the traffic you’re generating, the offers you’re promoting, your landing pages, your follow-up, and how consistently you use the tools.

But as an all-in-one traffic and list-building platform, LeadsLeap is unusually comprehensive.

If you’re brand new, I’d start with the free membership and explore the Page Builder and SendSteed first.

If your goal is specifically to build an email list, those two tools alone make LeadsLeap worth investigating.

And once you understand how the pieces fit together, the Traffic Co-Op, advertising system, tracking, PPC opportunities, and affiliate program give you additional ways to generate and monetize traffic.

For marketers who want to build a system rather than simply chase individual clicks, LeadsLeap is one of the platforms I think is worth having in the toolbox.
